The 2022 X5 has a 21.9-gallon fuel tank, this is present in every X5 model that’s specifically powered by the gas engine only. But, the xDrive45e hybrid trim equips an 18.2-gallon gas tank that’s paired up with an electric motor and standard hybrid engine to complete the hybrid build. Although the 18.2-gallon gas tank is smaller than the standard gas tank, they’re both suitable capacities for the 2022 BMW X5.
The 2022 X5 has a driving range of over 500 miles, meaning drivers can have so much exciting times on the road. The fuel mileage numbers of the two standard X5 models, such as the sDrive40i and xDrive40i, will get 21 miles per gallon around the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 23 miles per gallon when those two numbers get combined. But the more powerful 2022 BMW X5 M trim gets 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, giving a combined 15 mpg in the more capable version.
The 2022 X5 uses a 3.0L BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 335 hp. That 3.0L engine is the standard choice in the outstanding 2022 X5 trim level lineup. The next engine is the 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V-8 that produces 523 horsepower for the M50i trim level of the BMW X5 and 600 hp for the X5 M model. With every engine bringing its own unique skills, all you have to do is choose the path ahead.
